The screenshot above has many different pictures that represent the genre rap. this is the genre which i am going to use on my magazine. each of the pictures represents something about rap.

Typography

The font on the magazine is very important as it can help make it stand out and will help sell them. On both of the magazines the masthead is read and white, this helps to catch your attention and stands out to the reader. The colours which are used are very similar as red, white and black are used on both of the magazines. the fonts which are used on the magazine are both are sharp and harsh, this is the same for the title used. on both the magazine they have used red font for all the stories around the main image, this helps to stand out and shows what colours are used for the genres. also the main artist on the cover are both looking straight at the reader which make it a lot more inviting for the person buying the magazine. when doing my magazine i will look at the covers in the genre i am doing and look at the different colours which they have all used. the colours which i will be using are black, red, white and yellow. Throughout all the magazine i have looked at these colours have been on a lot of them and helps make the cover look good. i have looked at many different fonts to use as the masthead on my magazine

Front Cover Mock Up

This is a screenshot of how the front cover of my magazine will be set out. i have looked at many different magazines for inspiration and to help see what is the best way for my front cover to be set out. by looking at all the different magazine helped me to decide the best way to set it out and how i will attract the audience. the colours i have chose to use will also help attract readers as the will stand out. the images along the left hand side of the cover will attract the reader to the magazine and make it look better. 

Double Page Spread Mock Up

This is a mockup of how i want may double page spread to look, this is how a lot of magazines double page spreads look such as kerrang and NME. There will be one big picture which will take up the whole of the right page, this will attract the reader. I have looked at other double page spreads and have decided to do my text in columns, there will also be a quote from the artist in the corner of the page.

Magazine Covers

Q- Main Image of The Foo Fighters

The main image of the magazine is the foo fighters main singer, they have also used a edit so the rest of the band is coming out of his mouth and there is also fire behind them. in the image he looks angry and the headline is "this will kill me". this will attract the target audience asit has a good selling point, they will want to know what exactly he is reffering to and what he is not happy about, also the article around the sides will attract many other people who may not be interested in the main band on the front page. The masthead is at the bottom of the magazine which is unusual and the main image of the cover is covering part of the magazine title. This is an inspiring front cover as it looks very good and proffessional, also the effects which they have used are very good and will help attract people to buy the magazines.

Rolling Stone- Main Image is Jay-Z

The main image of this magazine is the singer and song writer Jay-Z, the front cover of this issue is fairly basic and does not have many things happeing on it e.g. edits and pictures, although there is much information around the image about the different article and stories in the magazine. super imposition is being used on this front cover as the head of the artist isover laping past of the masthead. the story to do with Jay-Z is titled as "addicted to the game". this will attract the audience as it is interesting and they will want to know the story behind the headline. I think the mode of address is serious as the facial which the artist is doing looks serious and make the magazine more attractive to the audience. I think this would be an excellent example to model my magazine on as it is very neat and looks very proffessional, also the colours used look very good as it is mostly black, grey and red.

XXL- Main Image of 50 Cent

The image on this magazine is of 50 Cent, the front cover is very good and will attract the audience to buy this magazine. On the front page there is a image of 50 Cent with a microphone hanging over his shoulder, also he is very a vest and a baseball cap. along with the image there is also a quaote which says "there is nothing left like me in the culture", this is a good thing to have on the front of the magazine as it is a good selling point and will help attract the audience to buying the magazine. The mode of address of the magazine is serious as the facial expression which he is doing connotes a serious feeling. The head of the artist is covering part of the title, another good thing about the magazine is there is artists along the right hand side of the cover. I think this would be a good cover to help design my cover as it is interesting and shows the main subject and what it is going to have in it.

KERRANG-Main Image of Linkin Park

The image on the front of this magazine is of the artist Chester Bennington, he has no top on and has tattoos all over his body which connotes that he is rough. also the artist is over the masthead and you can not fully see it, this magazine can afford to do this as they are well known all over and people can tell which magazine it is just by looking at the set out and the small part of the title which is in view. The main story of the magazine is the return of Linkin Park, this will attract people to the magazine as they will want to know weather he is making a come back to writing music. all around the sides of the magazine there are stories of what else along with the main story will be in it, also the top there is an advertisement telling the reader about the free "mega posters" in the magazine. I think that this would be a good magazine to model mine on as it is very cluttered and it helps people as they can put more of the stories that are going to be in the issue.

The contents page is from a NME magazine,i think that the page is set out neatly and clearly shows some of the main stories which will be included in this issue, it also shows the page number which it will be on. NME are following the same style which they use for all their magazine's, this can become quite repetitive for the reader. compared to another magazine such as Kerrang, this is alot less cluttered as their house style is for the page to be very packed to help attract the reader.

In this magazine issue there is one main image in the middle of the page and many other stories surrounding it, also there is a advertisement in the corner telling the reader how they can save money on the magazine. i think the contents page is well set out and look good, this will help sell the magazine and attract their target audience.
